The primary role of the Council of Educators is to provide quality training events on disability law issues.

In 2005-2006, we will hold two conferences on Section 504, as well as a Dyslexia Conference in Austin, Texas. These conferences promise to be great events, with fabulous general sessions, interesting breakout sessions,  lots of time for questions and answers, and a great opportunity to network with other educators.

Here’s the calendar (click one for more details):

If you have never attended a CESD Conference, you’ve missed a lot.

Speakers are chosen from attorneys and practitioners who know their stuff (and can entertain as well as inform). Each speaker is required to prepare written materials that are included in a notebook that each participant takes home. So, even if you don’t see all of the sessions, you have all of the materials. Folks tell us that they utilize the notebook throughout the year to help answer their questions.

Plus there is always time to network with other educators who share your concerns, and many opportunities to ask questions of the speakers. We even have drawings for some  nice door prizes for a few lucky participants. Folks love our conferences.

Sometimes it’s easier to bring the conference to your state. We’re happy to do that too. In late October-early November of 2001, we provided a series of seven one-day 504 workshops tailored for the State of Hawaii. The out-of-state section also details  our travels in May of 1998, when we conducted a two-day conference in New Mexico, and in October 1998 and March 1999, when we traveled to Little Rock for a pair of two-day Arkansas Conferences. CESD can create a unique training event or inservice for educators from a single campus or an entire state. We’ll focus the presentation on what you need and do it at a time and place that works for you.
