2020 Conference Registration
We'll only be gathering virtually this year...
Despite our best efforts and those of our long-time friends at the Austin Doubletree, we are unable to provide live conferences this year that will accommodate our growing number of attendees while ensuring their safety and that of speakers and staff. All of our fall events will only be available virtually.
While we will miss seeing each of you, we're working on not only providing an exceptional faculty and must-see sessions, we are also exploring ways in which we can increase interaction between attendees and speakers. Stay tuned for more details as we put those ideas to work.
Among the benefits of a virtual conference is the ability for an attendee to see every session and do so at a convenient time during our conference window. Beginning on the date of each conference, registered attendees will be able to stream sessions in any order they wish, as many times as they wish, during the following three weeks. The only exceptions will be the two live Q&A's with speakers and a few other surprises built into the two scheduled conference days.
What about the famous CESD Conference Notebooks?
As always, each participant will receive a complete set of all of the handouts from each of the conference sessions. Rather than providing them in notebook form, the handouts will be available as a single PDF file for a single download, or as smaller files that participants may download as they prepare to watch a session.
Since participation is not limited to the two days of the scheduled conference, the typical life and work events that interfere with attendance will not prevent viewing the sessions over the three week window. As a result, no refund, cancellation of a purchase order, or transfer to the next conference will be made. To substitute another person for a registrant at an event, please contact CESD prior to the event at 512-219-5043 with the name and email address of the person who will be substituting for you.
Registration Options & Rates
For each of the Main Conferences, registration is $380 per person.
For each optional PreConference, registration by the deadline is $170 per event.
To process your registration, we need a valid purchase order, credit card payment (online) or a check. If you prefer not to register online or download the registration form, give us a call at (512) 219-5043 and we’ll email you a copy.
Individuals with disabilities with special communication or other needs should advise CESD of those needs at the earliest possible date in order that their needs may be addressed. CESD will seek to provide reasonable accommodations where needed.
Continuing Education Credit
Both the Section 504 and the Dyslexia Conference meet the Continuing Education standards for 16.0 hours from both the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (§461.11) and Licensed Professional Counselors. In addition to these credits, for the Dyslexia Conference only, CESD has received approval for 16.0 clock hours CEU from the Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA).
Under CESD's new virtual model, attendees will have access to more hours of content, but will be subject to additional requirements from their licensing entities to receive credit since attendance is virtual. For example, ALTA now requires us to document login and logout times for each of its members to award credit hours. Attendees will receive email updates prior to the Conferences with further details and instructions. Until then, the conditions we are required to impose on attendees to gain those credits will be subject to change.
So how will virtual conferences work?
Upon receipt and processing your registration, CESD will forward an email to each registrant confirming registration and provide you with instructions. Unlike the event in Austin, you never have to choose between two great sessions scheduled simultaneously. Instead, watch them both whenever you like and as many times as you want during the three-week conference window. Only the Q&A sessions are scheduled and will not be recorded. The schedule for those events will be included in your second email a week before your event.
