David M. Richards is a graduate of Texas Tech University and the University of Texas School of Law. Since graduation from law school in 1989, Dave has counseled and defended public schools. He is a founding and managing partner of Richards Lindsay & Martin, L.L.P., a school law firm in Austin, Texas. His practice is focused on the defense of public school districts and special education cooperatives in IDEA and Section 504 matters involving students with disabilities. Dave’s analysis on disability law issues frequently appears in LRP’s publications The Section 504 Compliance Advisor,The Special Educator, and Your School and the Law. He is the General Counsel for the Council of Educators for Students with Disabilities (CESD), and is a frequent presenter on special education and §504 at education service centers, school districts, state-wide events, and national conferences throughout the country. Dave’s presentations make disability law accessible, and include a healthy mix of common sense and humor.
